Kettlebell Session

I’ve just had a training session with Sharm of KURUP FIT with kettlebells.  We use these most sessions, but maybe only once or twice.  This time however, I did nearly everything with either an 8kg bell or a 12kg bell.

As usual, we started with a warm up, jogging, jumping and lots of stretches.  I then went through two different circuits during the session.  The hardest thing I had to do was to pick up the 12kg kettlebell, do a deep squat and then use my squat power and momentum to push the bell above my head – you try doing that with ball that nearly weighs a quarter of your body weight!

As always, Sharm kept it fun for me while working me hard.  Every session I can feel I’m getting fitter and stronger!  Its always good to hear Sharms feedback after every session as she can see the changes as well, which is always a positive and great to know your workouts are paying off!

Wedge Sesh Sunday

It was Ladies Morning at WakeMK on Sunday morning.  The weather was rubbish, I’m not going to lie about it.  It was drizzling, grey and freezing, but the water was flat and the brave women who came out to play were greeted with an intimate wedge / kicker session right in front of the dock.

After a warm up from KURUP FIT to get us all amped up, we got on the water.  We had endless fun on the new wedge that WakeMK had just put in, its really mellow and friendly so its easy to learn something new, even I learnt a couple of new tricks on it!

We had some goodies to give away as usual.. Delphine won the Wide-A-Wake goodie bag as she nailed getting around the cable for the first time, well done for all the hard work! Olena won the KURUP FIT voucher for trying raleys off the kicker and taking a few stacks.  Sharm won the Nalu Beads prize for learning to nose press the box, yew!  And finally, Emsey won the Two Seasons goodies for learning a toe blind one, and a toe blind 3 on the wedge!  Sick riding girls!!

Girls Ride Day

Its nearly here!!  The Girls Ride Day of course!  Join Jules Haley at the Quays for a super fun day of boat and system 2.0 action.  There will be lots of goodies up for grabs and yummy food & drinks to keep you going.  Sarah Kingdom and I will also be there to help out as well.  I will be running a Nalu Beads workshop on the day, so bring some creativity with you!

My Hyperlite Ride

I have been on my new set up for about a month now and not mentioned what I’m riding?!  This year I am on the Syn board (in a 137cm) and Syn bindings (in tiny).  Its a lush set up and I am loving it!!  This is the low down..

The Syn is the shape of choice for the Hyperlite It Girls Team and is proven on tour, cables & sliders. The Syn carries great speed into the wake and has all the pop you need to play with. With a variable edge design which rolls from soft between your feet to a sharp cupped rail tip and tail, this board is as quick and responsive as you like. A new feature that strays from traditional Hyperlite shapes however is the Syn’s shorter curved molded in fins. Ending almost two inches from the tip and tail of the board, its just enough fin to know its there and working but nothing to delay release off the wake.  I ride it on the cable and it rocks off the flat, kickers & sliders!!

This is a first, there has never been a boot in the Hyperlite line designed specifically for a female rider. The completely new Syn boot is built from scratch to fit and function for ladies looking to progress their riding. Starting with a ladies specific last, the new Syn has reduced internal volume and a lower cuff to accurately fit a women’s foot and calf. The dual Quick Cinch lace system also allows for fine tuning of boot tension between the upper and lower zones. All of these features are wrapped up on our new Low Pro plate system which puts the rider closer to the deck of the board for maximum feel and control.  These are the most comfortable bindings I’ve ridden yet!

Ladies Morning

Training with KURUP FIT

I recently had another training session with Sharm from KURUP FIT.  This time it was over on her turf which worked out great as I was over in Essex for the opening of Fest Wake with Hyperlite and Mystic, so we all went for a ride after!

We started with a warm up which was a jog, some dynamic stretches, a bit of sprinting and then got straight into circuits.  Sharm trained with us (us being me and another boy – I spent my time trying to ‘win’ but I got my ass kicked!)  It was a really good session as I was always trying to do better than someone else, so I really got pushed as hard as I possibly could.  Music pumping out always helps get you a bit more amped as well!

          

After the workout, Sharm made sure we warmed down properly and stretched everything out.  I was knackered after this one… I like training one on one, but every now and again, its good to mix it up a bit!
